My SPC Journey - Mr COVID -Why you came late?
Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Less, FDD, TDD blah blah .... Last 14 years I have been watching how new agile buzzword have evolved. To be honest I feel you conduct few experiments, follow some guidelines and if it becomes successful in any domain, we come up with a fancy name ... defining it as a framework. Therefore, while consulting with Clients, I never recommend if a framework is good or bad, what is utmost important to understand is the client need, respective team problem, budget, impact of the solution, timeline. But then the question is why the hell one should listen to me? Afterall I am not a Agile God Mother! Oh Yes you are right and that’s why I thought let’s take few good certifications. They add weight and value to your Profile.
I started my career as developer and hence have a good understanding of technical stuff. I started my Agile journey as Scrum developer for one of the challenging products of Motorola working in distributed team. I understand and empathise the developer pain points too. I have gone through learning on all challenging projects. All these learning I want to utilize helping team develop best product.
Let me tell you my thoughts behind my certifications. I went on six-months maternity leave and as per rules my company paid my salary. My thought was to put this money to good use and something that helps both me and my employer – through my skill upgradation. And that’s exactly what I did. There were challenges as most of good trainings were not happening in area I lived. And imagine traveling after pregnancy with small baby. Online trainings were not even thought of for those certification. And today Mr Covid changed the world in more ways than one can imagine. We can do trainings/certifications right from our home online. This is great and my thoughts - Oh Mr Covid why did not you come few years back!
My clients have appreciated my Agile Consultancy and I love what I do. With every interaction, failure and success I have learnt and improved! In today’s (COVID) time having Job is itself a Blessing! And most organisations take developers as their most critical resource. And as I search for my next big consultancy job, I am not sure if I would go back to my technical job as developer. Agile say Adapt to Survive! I wish I could be a part of team developing smart digital solution where I can help them with my experience and Learning as Servant Leadership. I wonder how AI is helping health care system and soon we develop cure for it using any of Agile/Scrum framework and give a new name to it ...
